Typically 5 to 8 °C less in the rooms under the roof, measured in summer. The air conditioning kicks in less often and nights become bearable without running it all night.
From the roof, whenever possible: you treat the slab where the heat enters and protect the waterproofing at the same time. Ceiling insulation remains useful when the terrace can’t be redone (constraints, budget).
Warm roof: insulation under the membrane. Inverted roof: XPS boards laid over the membrane, which then stays at a stable temperature and lasts longer. In Marrakech we strongly favour the inverted build-up for that reason.
